How to do your BAS as a DiDi driver
A plain-English guide to your DiDi tax summary and your quarterly BAS.
Do you need to lodge a BAS?
Yes. DiDi rides are taxi travel, so like Uber drivers you need an ABN and must be registered for GST before your first trip, whatever you earn. If you drive for both DiDi and Uber, everything goes on one BAS for your business.
Your DiDi tax summary
DiDi gives you a monthly Tax Summary for the Period. For each month of the quarter it shows:
- Fare breakdown: gross rider fares and the booking, toll, airport, levy and cancellation amounts riders paid.
- Other income: for example rewards.
- Other potential deductions: the DiDi service fee and other amounts taken out of your earnings.
- Income: what you received after those deductions.
What goes on the BAS
- G1 – Total sales: your fares and other income for the quarter, including GST, not the smaller amount you received after DiDi's deductions.
- 1A – GST on sales: the GST included in those sales.
- 1B – GST on purchases: the GST in DiDi's fees and in the business share of your car and phone costs.
Add your Uber figures and your receipts for the same quarter, and the totals are your BAS figures. See G1, 1A and 1B explained.
Tips
- Download all three monthly summaries for the quarter before you start.
- Keep your fuel and car receipts together with your statements, and work out your car's business use. See GST on fuel and car costs.
- Check the DiDi month matches the BAS quarter: a June summary belongs in the April–June quarter.
How GigTics helps
Drop in your DiDi summaries, as PDFs, screenshots or photos, together with your Uber statements and receipts. GigTics reads the income and deductions for each month and prepares G1, 1A and 1B for the whole quarter, ready for you to check and lodge.
